About Mindful Child & Family Therapy (MCAFT)

Who We Are

At Mindful Child & Family Therapy (MCAFT), we're a team of trauma-informed clinicians who support children, teens, adults, couples, and families in strengthening the relationships that matter most-both within themselves and with the people they love.

We provide evidence-based therapy with a warm, relational approach, and we collaborate as a team when it's helpful-especially when more than one person in a family system needs care and support. We're here to meet you with respect, attunement, and a belief in your capacity to heal and grow.

We offer therapy in-person in Los AltosMountain View-Los AltosSan JoseHalf Moon Bay, and online throughout California.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide trauma-informed therapy that helps children, adults, and families strengthen their relationships-with themselves and with each other - so they can live with greater connection, resilience, and well-being.

What We Believe

We believe healing happens in relationship—with an affirming therapist, within a supportive family system, and within your own inner world.

Sometimes what looks like anxiety, reactivity, shutdown, perfectionism, conflict, or “off-track behavior” is actually a nervous system doing its best to protect what feels tender or overwhelmed. We’re here to help you understand what’s happening underneath the surface—and to build the safety, skills, and self-trust that make real change possible.

How We Help

We work with:

  • Children who are struggling with big feelings, anxiety, behavior challenges, transitions, grief, sensitivity, or stress

  • Teens who need a safe, grounded space to explore identity, emotions, relationships, and the pressures they carry

  • Parents who want support that is compassionate and practical—so home can feel steadier and more connected

  • Adults and couples who want to heal old wounds, shift patterns, improve relationships, and feel more like themselves again

  • Families who want to reduce conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen communication and emotional safety

When it’s clinically appropriate (and with everyone’s consent), our team model can allow different members of a family system to receive the right kind of support—while still staying aligned in the bigger picture of healing and connection.

Our Approach

Our therapists are trained in trauma-informed, evidence-based modalities, and we tailor care to your goals, your needs, and your pace. Approaches used across our team include:

At the heart of our work is a simple, powerful orientation: turning toward what’s happening inside with curiosity, compassion, and steadiness—so you’re no longer alone with it.
