Frequently Asked Questions

We know that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. Here are answers to the questions we hear most from new clients. If you don’t see your question here, call us at 650-300-3635 or use our contact form — we’re happy to help.

Do you accept insurance?

We are out-of-network providers. Many of our clients use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement, typically covering 50–80% of session fees. We provide superbills for your insurance company so you can submit for reimbursement directly. Visit our rates page for current session fees and more details on how out-of-network billing works.

Do you offer telehealth or online therapy?

Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth therapy throughout California for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Online sessions are available for most of our services and are conducted through a secure video platform. Telehealth is a great option for busy families, those in remote areas like the Coastside, or anyone who prefers the comfort of home.

What ages do you work with?

We work with children (ages 5 and up), adolescents, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our therapists specialize in age-appropriate, evidence-based approaches for each age group — from play therapy for young children to CBT and IFS for teens and adults.

What therapy approaches do you use?

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches including:

Each therapist brings their own combination of modalities. During your free consultation, we’ll match you with a therapist whose approach fits your needs.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes. We offer daytime, after-school, evening, and Saturday appointments to accommodate busy schedules. Availability varies by therapist and location. Contact us at 650-300-3635 or book online to check current openings.

We typically respond within one business day. During the consultation, we’ll learn about your needs and match you with the right therapist at the location most convenient for you.

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a chance for you and your therapist to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what brought you to therapy, your background, and your goals. For child clients, the first session often includes time with parents to understand the full picture. There’s no pressure — the first session is about building comfort and trust, and making sure the fit feels right.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as imminent danger to self or others, or suspected child abuse). Your therapist will explain confidentiality in full during your first session. For telehealth sessions, we use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform to protect your privacy.
