Course Description & Education Goals

This workshop will provide an overview on integrating IFS with EMDR. IFS and EMDR are power therapies which both treat a range of clients easily, and then there are others often with more complex trauma presentations, where it's an advantage to be able to integrate aspects of both and expand on them. Through didactic presentation, demos, and a praticum participants will learn when it's important to integrate the two and how, a protocol for safe space imagery that helps clients learn to block out intrusive thoughts and images, and Joanne's expanded Fire drill process which so effectively helps sort through countertransference and provides useful consultation on our clients.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify when to integrate IFS into the client's process
  • List two steps involved with Safe Space Imagery
  • Define what "Containers" are when working with dissociation
  • List three steps involved with the Fire drill
