Overall Description:
Katie is a dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with many years of experience working with children and families. With a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and a specialization in LGBTQ+ issues, Katie offers a compassionate and inclusive approach to therapy. Katie specializes in working with children & teens who have ADHD and learning challenges, as well as issues with self-esteem and peer relationships. She employs a tailored approach that focuses on each child’s unique strengths and needs, helping them develop effective coping strategies and improve resiliency. By integrating family systems theory, Katie collaborates with parents and educators to create supportive environments that foster the child’s growth and success both in and out of the classroom. Her diverse experiences, including serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines, contribute to her rich perspective and empathetic approach to therapy.
Katie is also deeply committed to creating a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and families, addressing the unique challenges and experiences they may face.
In her practice, Katie enjoys using Internal Family Systems and psychodynamic approaches. She works collaboratively with clients to explore their inner worlds and understand the dynamics of their relationships. Katie believes in the power of addressing internal conflicts and fostering self-awareness to promote healing and personal growth. Katie is committed to fostering positive relationships and empowering individuals and families to navigate challenges and achieve their personal goals. Experience:
Katie has extensive experience providing counseling services in school settings, ranging from elementary school to high school. Before her journey as a therapist, Katie served as a classroom teacher in the Evergreen School District. Her background in education informs her holistic understanding of child and adolescent development, making her particularly adept at working with young clients and their families.
